Founder-directors

Jane Mackay attended King’s College, London, and Westminster Medical School.  She practised as a GP for many years but relinquished medicine in 2000 for a full-time career as an artist.  She has broadcast widely on radio and television, has been artist in residence with Cambridge University Musical Society and held  numerous solo exhibitions, including shows at the Florence Biennale, London’s Wigmore Hall and in Aldeburgh, Ludlow and Salisbury.  Jane is also a choral singer, an oboist and a synaesthete.

Andrew Plant studied the piano in Leeds and London and received his doctorate from The University of Birmingham, where he was a visiting lecturer.  He has contributed to a number of scholarly publications and was Curator for Exhibitions at The Britten–Pears Library, Aldeburgh for eight years.  He has given the premiere of a number of works by Britten, including the first performance of the composer’s composition sketches for The Turn of the Screw.  Andrew is now Assistant Director of Music at St George’s School, Windsor Castle and appears regularly as a recital accompanist to many eminent singers, particularly James Bowman.
